Aug 1, 2022 | Ship classification news

Evergreen’s recently-delivered ‘Ever Alot’, believed to be the largest container ship in the world, at just over 24,000 TEU capacity, is classed by ABS.

The vessel is the latest in a series of five being built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China to ABS class. The 400m long megamax-24 type ship will serve ports between Asia and Europe. It features an energy-saving design, including bulbless bow, and includes exhaust gas cleaning equipment.

John McDonald, ABS EVP and COO said: “We are proud to support the design, construction and successful delivery of such a remarkable vessel through the challenges of the pandemic. As the leading class in containerships, we have a record of supporting industry firsts and this milestone is the latest we are proud to add to that list.”

ABS says it can provide support and solutions geared towards containerships, from fire-fighting and lashing to decarbonisation and sustainable solutions.
