Konlink, a shipowner in the dry bulk segment, and its in-house ship manager, Phelippe Barko Management, are using Napa to strengthen operational performance and stay ahead of tightening environmental regulations.
What began as a targeted deployment of Napa Fleet Intelligence has now evolved into fleet-wide adoption, covering 20 vessels and counting. Since 2024, Konlink has used Napa’s digital tools to monitor, evaluate, and optimise vessel performance with granular insights and noon report data.
Operating in international waters, including increasingly regulated EU/EEA zones, Konlink required a solution that would allow it to understand its fleet’s performance in real-time. Environmental compliance pressures, from EU ETS to FuelEU Maritime and the IMO’s Net-Zero Framework, made accurate data and digital insights a foundation for strategic planning.
Konlink recognised the need for a solution that could not only consolidate reporting processes and improve data quality but also support smarter decision-making for both technical and commercial teams. Reducing crew workload and ensuring alignment with fast-evolving environmental standards were key drivers in Konlink’s digital journey. At the heart of Konlink’s digital transformation is Napa Fleet Intelligence, configured around three core modules that the team uses extensively:
- Technical Performance – to benchmark engine and hull performance across varying conditions
- Charter Party – to monitor compliance against contractual obligations and avoid performance disputes
- Emission Compliance – to ensure alignment with regional and international environmental standards
A highlight of the partnership has been the integration between Napa Fleet Intelligence and the ClassNK MRV Portal, launched in May 2025. Previously, crews needed to submit reports to both systems separately. Now, data entered once into Napa is automatically synced with ClassNK, cutting down on administrative repetition, easing crew workload, and improving the consistency and reliability of reported data.
Ease of use, visual clarity, and responsive customer support were features for Konlink’s choice of the Napa platform, and what started with a 10-vessel deployment in 2024 expanded to 20 vessels within a year, a 100% increase that reflects the trust built through results.
With Napa Fleet Intelligence, Konlink gained a clearer view of each vessel’s performance, enabling more confident decisions around emissions management, charter party warranties, and future voyage planning. Granular technical insights help identify efficiency trends across the fleet, while the emission compliance module has brought transparency and scalability to regulatory compliance efforts.
Operationally, the platform has reduced the administrative burden on the crew by streamlining reporting requirements, allowing them to focus on core shipboard duties. Commercially, Konlink has improved its ability to assess risk, protect charter revenues, and demonstrate compliance across multiple jurisdictions, strengthening its competitive edge.
Keigo Sasaki, Director, Konlink said: “Napa doesn’t just offer a product, it brings deep expert insight and trusted partnership. The more we use Napa Fleet Intelligence, the more we’re able to unlock performance transparency.”
By embedding digital tools at the heart of its operations, Konlink believes it is laying the groundwork for smarter, more sustainable shipping, equipped to meet today’s demands and lead into tomorrow’s market.
