Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) and China Merchants Heavy Industry Group (CMHI) have completed a series of strategic agreements and certifications, further strengthening their long-term partnership to support the green and intelligent transformation of the global shipping industry.

BV and China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry have signed a strategic collaboration agreement, establishing a comprehensive framework for cooperation in green shipping, vessel innovation, offshore new energy, and digitalisation. This agreement marks a new stage of pragmatic and comprehensive collaboration aimed at advancing smart and low-carbon development in the global shipbuilding industry.

In addition, BV, China Merchants Industry Digital Technology (CMDT), and Jiangsu Zhiwei Marine Engineering jointly signed a cybersecurity business cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to integrate each party’s respective strengths to provide clients with full lifecycle services across the maritime value chain.

Additionally, BV has awarded CMDT a cybersecurity laboratory certificate, recognising its capabilities in shipboard cybersecurity and reinforcing a shared commitment to building secure digital infrastructure for smart shipping. Further milestones included the issuance of a product certificate for CM Energy WindWings, an innovative rigid sail technology designed to support vessel emissions reduction.

BV granted multiple approval in principle (AiP) certificates for three types of hydrogen fuel cell-powered vessels, including a 3,000 dwt bulk carrier, a 1,500 dwt ro-ro ship, and a 100-passenger cruise ship.

These developments are considered to underscore the continued collaboration between BV and CMHI in advancing sustainable, low-carbon, and intelligent solutions for the global maritime industry.
