Japan Engine Corporation (J-Eng) has renewed its license agreement with Akasaka Diesels for the manufacture and sale of UE-series engines, low-speed two-stroke engines produced in Japan.
The renewed license agreement grants Akasaka a new license for manufacture and sale of J-Eng ammonia fuelled engines (LSJA series), the development of which J-Eng completed in 2025, in addition to the latest line-up of conventional HFO engines.
Following the ammonia fuelled engines, J-Eng is currently developing and manufacturing hydrogen fuelled engines (LSGH series) and has also begun development of methanol fuelled engines (LSJM series).
J-Eng expects to deepen its cooperation with Akasaka, the domestic UE engine licensee which has been licensing the manufacturing and sale of UE engines for many years. Furthermore, J-Eng intends to further develop the UE engine family expanding globally and promoting the spread of alternative fuel engines by providing appropriate licenses, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the shipping, shipbuilding, and marine industries.
