Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has named ‘Harmonic Breeze’, a new eco-friendly LNG carrier at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje Shipyard in South Korea, which will be chartered to Japanese company Inpex Shipping.

This is the first LNG carrier to sail under a long-term charter contract with the Inpex Group, equipped with technologies designed to reduce environmental impact.

The vessel is equipped with an air lubrication system and a shaft generator as environmental impact reduction systems, and is designed to achieve superior fuel efficiency and reduced GHG emissions compared to conventional LNG carriers. It is 294.9m long, with a 174,000m3 membrane type cargo tank. Main engine is a B&W ME-GA type. The ship will be managed by MOL Global Ship Management.
