Swedish company AtoB@C Shipping, part of ESL Shipping, has taken delivery of ‘Megama’r, the eleventh vessel in its series of 5,400 dwt plug-in hybrid newbuildings.
The vessel was handed over on June 10 and will soon begin its maiden voyage from India to Europe. Built at Chowgule & Company, Megamar is part of AtoB@C Shipping’s next-generation hybrid fleet designed for efficient and low-emission operations in the Baltic and North Sea. Equipped with battery technology and shore power connectivity, the vessels enable quiet and emission-free port calls, while ice class 1A ensures reliable year-round operations in northern conditions.
The addition of Megamar is said to further strengthen AtoB@C Shipping’s modern fleet, supporting industrial customers with flexible and sustainable transport solutions across bulk, breakbulk and project cargoes.
AtoB@C Shipping has ordered 12 vessels in the series, with the final vessel, Luxomar, scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2026.
Meanwhile, parent company ESL Shipping has announced its intention to bring AtoB@C under the ESL brand.
Frida Rowland, Director, Business Unit Coasters, said: “We are committed to ensuring that our customers experience this change as seamless. The unified brand reflects our shared capabilities and the strengths of both organisations.”
