The first vessel in a series of four for James Fisher, ‘Orca Fisher’, designed by FKAB of Sweden, was recently named in London alongside ‘HMS Belfast’.
This 6,000 dwt FKAB T68 chemical and product tanker was built at China Merchants Industry Yangzhou Dingheng. It operates on dual fuel with LNG/LBG. It features MarineLine coated cargo tanks, shaft generator with PTH and VFD, economiser and thermal oil boiler. It is designed and built for unrestricted operation worldwide carrying oil/chemicals. The hull form is designed for good performance in harsh weather conditions, with energy-saving solutions onboard and with the patented F‐bow, it is considered an efficient low-emission vessel.
Special attention has been paid to crew safety, propeller and rudder performance, optimal combination of main engine and propeller with regards to rpm and pitch for all speeds, electrical consumption, heat/cooler consumption, environmental protection and minimum external and internal noise.
Propulsion is provided by a medium speed four stroke LNG/LBG dual fuel engine able to run as auxiliary engine during cargo discharging and other low load cases in harbour mode by using skip‐firing mode.
