Marine energy storage system company Corvus Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with Belga Marine, a maritime and offshore service provider based in Brazil, to deliver local support, aftermarket battery system services, and on-the-ground spare parts storage to meet the needs of Brazil’s expanding fleet of battery-powered Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs).
Brazil is said to be at the centre of global offshore energy-sector growth — both traditional oil and gas projects and emerging renewable initiatives — driven by rising exploration and production demand, including equatorial margin expansion and new deep-water and ultra-deep-water exploration.
The country now boasts nearly 500 OSVs currently in operation and more anticipated in the near future. Notably, Petrobras is investing substantially in both decommissioning outdated assets and renewing the fleet, with over 40 new ships projected to enter service from 2027 onward.
Worldwide, many OSVs rely on Corvus Energy Storage Systems, including several hybrid vessels operating in Brazil. In line with growth projections for the Brazilian offshore sector, this number is expected to increase. To provide comprehensive service support for existing and upcoming vessels, Corvus Energy is partnering with Belga Marine. Since 1981, Belga Marine has provided aftermarket maintenance and repair services for advanced maritime and offshore equipment, supporting technology suppliers and their customers in Brazil. Belga Marine is a provider of maintenance and asset management solutions for a portfolio of advanced marine technologies used onboard ships and offshore assets. Specialising in naval electronics, telecommunications, navigation, and automation, the company provides equipment maintenance, inspection, and certification services.
Backed by a qualified technical team and registered with classification societies ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, and Lloyd’s Register, Belga Marine is positioned to serve Corvus Energy clients in the region.
Corvus Energy says it aims to partner with vessel owners and operators throughout the lifecycle of their assets, combining local service capabilities with global expertise, digital monitoring, predictive analytics, and technical support. This approach helps operators achieve high reliability and optimised performance, while growing Corvus’ capacity to support a rapidly expanding fleet of battery-enabled vessels. Working with Belga Marine in Brazil is seen as an important part of that solution, enabling specialised local service, backed by global experience.
Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Head of Region-Americas, Corvus Energy, said: “As the adoption of battery technology accelerates in Brazil’s offshore sector, reliable local support becomes increasingly important. Through our partnership with Belga Marine, we can combine strong regional service capabilities with Corvus Energy’s global expertise, digital monitoring solutions, predictive analytics, and technical support network. Together, we are ensuring customers receive the support they need throughout the entire lifecycle of their systems.”
Belga Marine Technical Manager Ari Claudio added: “Belga Marine has a longstanding track record in providing specialised maintenance solutions for advanced marine technologies in Brazil, and we are pleased to expand this service to include marine battery systems by partnering with Corvus Energy.”
