Spanish shipbuilder Astlleros Gondan’s Figueras facility has launched the new ‘513 OESV’ for the Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi.
This is the largest vessel built by the shipyard, solidifying its position in the construction of technologically advanced vessels for the marine energy sector. The vessel, designed by Norwegian firm Salt Ship Design, features advanced engineering and operational optimisation.
Gondan has now built 23 ships for the Nordic owner over a 20 year-plus period, which Gondan says has enabled both companies to lead innovation in the offshore maritime sector. The 513 OESV (Ocean Energy Support Vessel), is 120m in length with a beam of 23m. The vessel is equipped for the safe transport of personnel, support for CSOV wind energy operations, offshore construction, subsea installations, inspection operations using ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), cable laying and repair. It is constructed in steel to DNV class.
Equipped with a diesel-electric system featuring six variable-speed main engines driving PM Brunvoll azimuth thrusters, it is future-fuel ready, including battery systems and shore power, The Fuel Ready notation will allow it to operate in the future with clean fuels such as methanol (MeOH). It has 1,400m² of open deck space and accommodation for up to 173 people on board.
Following the launch, the vessel will undergo its final phase of outfitting at sea and subsequent sea trials, in preparation for scheduled delivery in late 2027.
