Ship management and maritime services provider Dockendale Group and marine fuels specialist Green Marine are pleased to announce a new partnership to deliver specialised training on methanol and other alternative marine fuels to seafarers in India.
As part of the partnership, Dockendale Training Academy, Dockendale’s in-house maritime training facility in Mumbai, will deliver Green Marine’s specialised training curriculum in India. The curriculum covers methanol, ethanol, ammonia and hydrogen as marine fuels, supporting seafarers and shipping companies in developing the knowledge and competencies required for the safe operation of vessels using alternative fuels.
The partnership brings together Green Marine’s experience in alternative marine fuels with Dockendale’s training infrastructure and seafarer development offering. The collaboration will provide seafarers with access to advanced training focused on the practical knowledge and competencies required for the evolving requirements associated with alternative-fuel vessel operations. The partners aim to make the training available to a broad range of officers, engineers and maritime professionals, supporting the industry’s preparedness for the adoption of alternative fuels.
Michael Herb, CFO, Dockendale Group, said: “As the maritime industry moves towards a more diverse fuel landscape, developing the right skills and knowledge among seafarers will be essential to the safe and effective adoption of alternative fuels. Our partnership with Green Marine brings together their specialised expertise with Dockendale’s training capabilities in India, enabling us to support seafarers and shipping companies as they prepare for the changing requirements of vessel operations.”
Fredrik Stubner, Group CEO, Green Marine, added: “Having been involved in ordering the first methanol dual-fuel engine and operating the technology since 2016, I’ve seen first-hand that crew training hasn’t kept pace, and what exists under the IGF code is built mainly around LNG. That gap, across methanol, ethanol, ammonia and hydrogen alike, is what our curriculum closes. It’s written and kept current by Captains and Chief Engineers with hands-on experience, and draws on our own work helping owners and yards integrate alternative fuels into vessel design. Partnering with Dockendale brings it to one of the world’s most important crewing markets.”
The partnership builds on the companies’ shared commitment to supporting the maritime industry through targeted training, practical expertise and the development of capabilities required for the safe and efficient operation of vessels using alternative marine fuels.
