Shortsea operator AtoB@C Shipping has taken delivery of ‘Astramar’, the tenth vessel in its series of 5,400 dwt plug‑in hybrid newbuildings.
The ship’s first deployment will be to sail to Europe with a full load of windmill components. Built at Chowgule & Co in India, Astramar is part of AtoB@C Shipping’s next‑generation hybrid coaster series designed for operations across the Baltic and North Sea. The vessels in the series feature battery technology and shore‑power connections enabling silent and emission-free port calls. Vessels have ice class 1A, ensuring year‑round operations in northern conditions.
AtoB@C Shipping has ordered 12 5,400 dwt plug-in hybrid vessels from Chowgule, and the remaining two vessels are currently under of construction. Megamar is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2026 and the last vessel of the series, Luxomar, in the third quarter of 2026.
