CORVUS SUPPORTS LARGEST BATTERY SHIP WITH ARGENTINE SERVICE PARTNER

Nov 3, 2026 | Marine propulsion & machinery news

Marine energy storage systems (ESS) company Corvus Energy is partnering with marine electrical solutions company Servintel to provide specialised, local-based technical support and service capabilities for Corvus Energy clients in Argentina.

To support a rapidly expanding fleet of battery-enabled vessels around the world and to help operators achieve high reliability and optimized performance, Corvus Energy is building an integrated global service ecosystem that combines traditional technical support, advanced digital monitoring, predictive analytics, and strategic partnerships. Working with Servintel in Argentina is an important part of that solution — enabling specialist local service, backed by global experience. Notably, this service scope includes the world’s largest battery-electric ship, the Buquebus China Zorrilla ferry, which entered operations in Argentina in October 2026.

Servintel, a South American-based company headquartered in Buenos Aries, was founded in 1979 with the primary goal of delivering innovative electrical and electronic solutions to markets in the marine and industrial sectors. Servintel will provide local-based post-sales support, technical training, and equipment maintenance service, backed by Corvus Energy’s experience in marine battery systems, digital monitoring, and remote service solutions. For Corvus Energy clients, this combination will enable faster service response, customized technical support, and enhanced engineering insight.

Recent years have seen increased demand for marine energy storage in South America, although still in early stages compared to Northern Europe and other, more developed markets. A notable exception is the largest 100% electric ship, with zero direct emissions during navigation which has now entered service in Argentina.

The China Zorrilla ferry built by Incat Tasmania for Buquebus, is powered by an ultra-large-scale marine battery system from Corvus Energy. The 40MWh ESS is roughly four times larger than any previous maritime installation. The ferry services a route that crosses the Rio de Plata, connecting Argentina and Uruguay. The Buquebus ferry is a primary driver in increasing Corvus Energy service capacity in the region. Buquebus has been a Servintel client for more than 30 years, with ongoing maintenance and technical support across the Buquebus fleet.

Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Head of Region Americas, Corvus Energy, said: “Providing comprehensive support over the full lifecycle of the battery system is crucial. Technical training for operators, remote monitoring and predictive analytics, and proactive maintenance all impact system performance and lifetime. Local-based support is also key, and partnering with Servintel enables us to provide high-quality post-sales support to Corvus Energy clients in Argentina, including for the ground-breaking Buquebus China Zorrilla ferry.”

Fernando Carballo, CEO Servintel, added: “Servintel has a strong track record supporting complex marine electrical and energy systems in demanding operational environments. We see this partnership as a key step in strengthening local capabilities in Argentina, while building a regional service platform to support the next generation of electrified vessels across South America. Through this collaboration, our teams will continue developing specialized technical expertise, working closely with Corvus Energy to ensure high standards in system performance, maintenance, and operational reliability.”
