May 25, 2022 | Shipbuilding & ship repair news

Singapore shipping company Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has taken delivery in Ulsan, Korea of ‘STL Yangtze’, the first of six 98,000m3 capacity Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLEC) vessels to join its growing gas fleet

All six vessels will feature dual fuel ethane propulsion which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions when compared to conventional marine fuels. On 15-year charters to China-based Zhejiang Satellite Petrochemical (STL), these environmentally friendly vessels will carry ethane between the US Gulf Coast to STL’s plant in Lianyungang, China.

EPS considers the delivery of STL Yangtze to represent a major milestone for the company as it represents a commitment to maritime’s energy transition with a holistic alternative marine fuels programme to achieve the industry’s decarbonisation goals.
