Swedish ship designer FKAB has announced the successful delivery of ‘Weco Memphis Elle’ and ‘Weco Senna’, the first two of a series of MR tankers ordered jointly by Hartree Partners, Weco Tankers and Oceangold Tankers, and constructed at Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Shipyard.
The 49800 dwt MR is designed in full compliance with IMO type 2 Chemical Tanker, with 20 MarineLine coated cargo tanks, each tank capacity below 3000m3, total cargo volume 54000m3, and 14 piping segregations.
Various energy efficient/green solutions have been implemented into the design, including readiness for methanol fuel, shaft generator, pre-swirl duct and twisted leading edge rudder. As in other FKAB designs, attention has been paid by all parties involved for efficient handling and convenient maintenance of the vessel. Owners and crews are said to be highly satisfied with the final result.
This is the first MR design from FKAB, but by careful planning and hardworking, Jinglu shipyard managed to deliver both vessels significantly ahead of contractual date, with vessel 1 delivered three months ahead of schedule and vessel 2 six months ahead of schedule.
