GLO Marine has announced a €6m investment in a new integrated assembly and production facility in Galați, Romania — a strategic move aimed at accelerating its growth as an end-to-end vessel upgrade and decarbonisation partner.
The facility will significantly expand the company’s ability to engineer, fabricate, pre-assemble, and integrate complex retrofit systems under one coordinated delivery model. Construction is underway, with completion scheduled by the end of the year and production commencing in February 2027. The project will create approximately 40 skilled technical roles, including welders, electricians, and integration specialists.
As vessel upgrade projects become more electrically driven and structurally complex, particularly in decarbonisation and offshore mobilisation scopes, integrated execution capability is thought to be becoming a decisive differentiator. By bringing mechanical fabrication and electrical integration in-house, GLO Marine says its reduces interface risks, shortens onboard installation windows, and increases control over quality and delivery schedules — critical factors for vessels operating in commercial service.
Alin Pohilcă, Operations Director, said: “Our ambition is not just growth, but leadership. We are building GLO Marine to become a benchmark for quality and reliability in end-to-end vessel upgrades. Leadership in this space requires full control over the execution chain — from engineering to final delivery. This investment strengthens our ability to set uncompromising standards and guarantee the predictability and execution certainty our clients expect from a top-tier partner.”
The Galați unit will support fabrication of steel structures, piping systems, skids and modules, as well as electrical panels, switchboards, and pre-integrated decarbonisation packages including shore power (OPS) and hybrid-ready systems.
This investment is said to mark a decisive step in GLO Marine’s evolution toward greater operational autonomy and delivery control in complex upgrade and retrofit projects. By strengthening its integration platform, the company will enhance its ability to operate in an EPC-style role — managing technically demanding scopes with higher predictability, accountability, and end-to-end responsibility. According to the company. as vessel upgrades become increasingly multidisciplinary and electrically driven, it is positioning itself to play a central role in shaping how modern retrofit projects are engineered and executed across European and international markets.
