Spanish shipyard Gondan has launched a further Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) for the Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind at its yard in Figueras.

This new vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design, also with a length of 88.3m and a beam of 19.7m, has a power plant prepared for zero-emission technology. The vessel design and build has been supported with funding from the Norwegian government through the Enova fund.  Accommodating 120 people – 97 technicians and 23 crew – it will feature current automated equipment, including a 3D offshore crane, an offshore gangway with a 30m outreach and an integrated 26-person capacity elevator.

It is the third in a series of six vessels designed for the transfer of technical personnel for the commissioning and maintenance of offshore wind farms.
