Spanish company Gondan Shipbuilders has celebrated the launching of its fifth Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) for Edda Wind, from the recently-resized slipway 1 of the expanded Figueras, Castropol facility.

The vessel, new building number C503, designed by Salt Ship Design, is said to stand out for its advanced and sustainable features. With a length of 88.3m and a beam of 19.7m, the C503 is equipped with zero-emission technology, can accommodate 120 people, and is fitted with modern automated equipment. Notable features include a 3D offset offshore crane, an offset offshore gangway with a 30m outreach and an integrated 26-person lift, making it suitable for complex operations in offshore wind farm maintenance.

This is the fifth in a series of six vessels built by GONDAN for Edda Wind. The yard believes this consolidates Gondan as a leader in the construction of specialised vessels for the offshore renewable energy sector, underlining the importance of innovation and sustainability in today’s industry. Furthermore, Gondan says that the expansion of its facilities not only reflects the company’s success and growth but also its ability to adapt and respond to the growing demands of the renewable energy market.
