Trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) ‘Seaway’ has been handed over to Boskalis by IHC Dredging following sea trials.
The delivery is said to mark another milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two Dutch companies. With a length of 178m, a width of 38m and a hopper capacity of 31,000m³, the Seaway is one of the largest TSHDs of its kind. The collaboration between the two parties resulted in the design and build of a vessel that combines high production capacity with advanced technologies aimed at improving efficiency, operational flexibility and environmental performance.
Prepared for operation on green methanol and equipped with a full diesel-electric installation, Azipod propulsion, an optimised hull design and advanced automation systems, the Seaway is considered a significant step forward in sustainable dredging technology. The vessel has been developed to support large-scale dredging and coastal infrastructure projects worldwide while reducing its carbon footprint.

The Seaway’s innovative design enables a larger hopper capacity while maintaining manoeuvrability and operational performance, making it suited for a wide range of dredging projects.
With the Seaway, Boskalis says it strengthens its position in the global dredging market and expands its capability to support major infrastructure, coastal protection and land reclamation projects worldwide.
