Aug 3, 2022 | Shipbuilding & ship repair news

A dual-fuel LNG (liquefied natural gas) shuttle tanker, ordered by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT),  which is an affiliate of NYK, has been delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.

The vessel, named Frida Knutsen, will be chartered to ENI Trade & Biofuels, a subsidiary of Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (ENI), and will be engaged in oil transportation in the North Sea and Barents Sea. This is KNOT’s first dual-fuel shuttle tanker that can use not only heavy fuel oil but also LNG. It will use LNG fuel, which is more environmentally friendly than conventional oil-fuel, and will be equipped with a VOC recovery system and an energy storage system, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Frida Knutsen is 277.54m length overall, 46m breadth, and 85504gt. The vessel will fly the Norwegian International Ship Register flag.
