FueLNG, a joint venture between Sembcorp subsidiary Keppel O&M and Shell Singapore, has named its newest addition to the fleet, the LNG bunker vessel ‘FueLNG Venosa’, at a ceremony at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

Aw Kah Peng, Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore, said: “The FueLNG Venosa will support a growing number of LNG-fuelled ships that call at the Singapore port, contributing to the country’s ambition of becoming a regional hub for LNG bunkering. As an industry, we must work together towards reducing emissions from shipping, and LNG is a key enabler in this transition.”

Built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and chartered from Korea Line LNG , the FueLNG Venosa is an LNG bunker vessel with a total capacity of 18,000m3, bringing significant economies of scale. The vessel is designed to facilitate safe and quick turnaround of vessels carrying out simultaneous cargo handling and bunkering operations, and is capable of bunkering different types of LNG fuel tanks. Besides bunkering operations, FueLNG Venosa will provide gas-up and cool-down services to LNG carriers and LNG-fuelled vessels after dry docking in Singapore or enroute to loading operations.

Saunak Rai, GM FueLNG, said: “We are thrilled to add the FueLNG Venosa to our fleet, which will help us cater to the growing demand for LNG bunkering services in the Asia Pacific region. The FueLNG Venosa will further enhance our capability to provide our customers with safe, reliable, and efficient LNG bunkering solutions.”

The naming of the FueLNG Venosa marks another step in FueLNG’s efforts to promote the use of LNG as a marine fuel and contribute to a more sustainable future for the shipping industry.
